Antique English Victorian long necklace with a watch clip in 9 karat gold. Late 19th century. The clip was used to hold items such as lorgnettes and watches, or to thread through a muff so it could be worn around the neck, falling at or below the waist. Marked A.C.C. 9CT on the clasp and also marked 9CT on a cartouche at the top of the chain. The hinge of the clasp is brass, shown on both sides in photos. A fabulous antique garnet five strand beaded necklace with a garnet decorated slide clasp. Circa 1900, from a Philadelphia estate, and I also have listed a garnet hinged bangle from this same estate. The metal tests positive for 9KT gold with jeweler's acid. The large stones in the clasp are each about 5 mm in diameter, and the tiny stones are 2 mm.
