Spectacular long necklace by French jewelry and home designer Herve Van der Straeten, with large modernist drops in textured goldtone metal on a matching snake chain, with oversized hook clasp. With the Van der Straeten signature on the charm at the clasp.
Herve Van der Straeten, born 1965, was first known for his jewelry designs for French couturiers. He designed jewelry beginning in the 1990s for runway shows for Christian Lacroix, Yves St. Laurent, and Jean Paul Gaultier. He no longer makes jewelry and now focuses on atelier made modernist furniture and lighting. This piece is from an estate, about ten years old.
Great size -- 46 inches long with the extender and the largest drop is 2 3/4 inches by 2 inches. Excellent condition with a bit of age darkening in a few spots, pictured but not noticeable when worn. Display form is life size. Photos enlarged to show detail.
