Gorgeous antique Victorian necklace of graduated matched banded agate onyx beads. The beads are half opaque black and half translucent light brown, with a band of white in the middle. The beads are mid to late 19th century, most likely cut in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. They have tiny facets visible on close inspection, indicating that they were hand cut and finished. They have been professionally restrung, hand knotted in a continuous strand, for security. There are 44 beads. Wearable length is 26 1/4 inches. The largest bead is 16mm in diameter and the smallest bead is 10mm in diameter. It weighs 164 grams. Excellent condition with several beads having age related very small surface losses. These are pictured but not at all noticeable when worn, and are very common with antique agate beads. Display form is life size. Photos enlarged to show detail.
