From France, fabulous Balenciaga necklace in sculpted goldtone metal with briolette faceted colorless glass drops in ornate dogtooth caps. 1980s. Probably a Robert Goossens design. Marked BALENCIAGA EDITION on the heavy hook clasp. The heavy oblong reeded links are twisted to create additional dimension. The links are individually soldered together. It has a slightly asymmetrical design: spaced along the necklace at intervals of two, four, and six links are links with groups of four, five, and six glass drops attached on hand soldered tiny rings on either side of the links. Very finely finished with amazing detail. An opulent but very modern and wearable piece. Wearable length is 33 1/2 inches and the drops are about 1 inch long. Excellent condition. Display form is life size. Photos enlarged to show detail.
