Stunning, dramatic, and big vintage bib or collar necklace in Egyptian revival style. Circa 1960. An unsigned Schreiner piece. Many Schreiner pieces were made for designers such as Christian Dior, Norman Norell, Pauline Trigere, and others, and were unsigned because they were made to be shown or sold as accessories to the designer's couture clothing collection. Signed Schreiner pieces were made to be sold individually in stores. The dogtooth prongs on the large stones, the crimped backs of the stone settings, and the overall design and use of color are all key Schreiner characteristics.

This piece has a very complex design, in goldtone metal with very large red marbled poured glass stones, probably Gripoix, gray glass based faux pearls, gray rhinestones in teardrop and round shapes, small and large round fuschia and chartreuse rhinestones, and finally, many small round aqua stones. With a hook clasp. All the stones are prong set and some are openbacked.

Wearable length is 17 1/2 inches and the extender is 3 inches (included in overall wearable length). The center section drops 3 inches and the sides are 1 1/2 inches wide. Excellent condition. There are two faux pearls with one tiny flea bite, not noticeable. The faux pearls are all drilled and most are set so that the drilled holes do not show; there are one or two where the hole is visible but this is not at all noticeable at a short distance and I mention this strictly for accuracy. Photos enlarged to show detail.
