Stunning antique Austro Hungarian silver Renaissance revival necklace with six very large genuine turquoise stones, three in robin's egg blue, and three in dark green. Circa 1900. Marked 830 on the main clasp and 925 on the clasp of the extender (more on the extender below). 830 silver was made in Austria-Hungary. Both pieces also have the same maker's mark, which looks like a conjoined HOH.

With a light gold wash. With fabulous heavy ornate lacy openwork designs. Also with tiny cabochon glass stones simulating Persian turquoise. It was common for this very complexly designed jewelry to combine genuine stones and glass stones in the same piece. The lighter large turquoise stones are cut slightly higher than the dark green stones.

Substantial at 45 grams. The design is symmetrical, with three turquoise stones on each side. It has an extender which allows it to be worn in a 14 1/2 inch length, or as a 12 1/2 inch dog collar. The dog collar necklace style was of course very popular in the Edwardian period from 1900 to 1920. The last photo shows the necklace clasped in the shorter length. The design is symmetrical at both lengths. There are two slide clasps, one for the extender. Possibly the extender was made at a different time and that's why it is marked 925 and the main necklace is marked 830. It matches perfectly, however, and again, has the same maker's mark as the main necklace.

14 1/2 inches long clasped with extender and 12 1/2 inches clasped without extender. 5/8 inch wide and 3/8 inch deep. Excellent condition. Photos enlarged to show detail.
