Outstanding and very big Art Deco/Retro Moderne figural layered pin in clear Lucite and ebonized carved wood with inlaid silver detail. Circa 1945. Unsigned, most likely by Elzac Inc., which produced jewelry from materials such as ceramic, Lucite, fur, feathers, cloth, and wood during World War II when other materials were in short supply. This exact piece is pictured, along with several other Elzac pins, on page 114 of "The Best of Bakelite and Other Plastic Jewelry" by Dee Battle and Alayne Lesser.

The pin depicts a very stylized and elongated man with a turban, in the style of Modigliani, in ebonized wood with a Lucite collar. With silver wire inlaid in the turban and silver dots inlaid on his forehead and throat. A super collectible piece.

Great size -- 4 1/2 inches long by 2 inches wide by 1/2 inch deep. Excellent condition. Photos enlarged to show detail.
